Crystal Vase Dream

I dreamt of a crystal vase, 14 inches tall, heavy and thick.

The light danced upon the beautiful scrolling lines etched in the thick glass. A woman approached me asking, “Had I seen her favorite crystal vase?”  I went to get it for her but someone had moved it. I knew this woman possessed a large glassware collection of various sizes and kinds; some clear glass, some colored, others white. All of her vases were of various shapes, too.

Crystal vases represent our lives as Christians.

We are called to be transparent, glistening vessels that hold the fragrance of the Lord inside us. Nothing hidden, clean hands and clean hearts. The kind of people so transparent that “what you see is what you get.” Agenda-less, honest, genuine vessels whose glistening facets reflect the light of the Son. Empty of themselves, they’re void of selfish ambition and impure motives. They live to serve His purposes, open to whatever Jesus desires of them.

People who exist for His pleasure and not their own.

Yet once filled, they present the fragrance and beauty of freshly cut flowers delighting the senses. Standing upright, these righteous ones are pillars within the community, known for their consistency and reliability. Their leadership is evident in their families, communities, schools, neighborhoods, and businesses. People of integrity, their reputations shine as those who consistently do the right thing.  They refresh others by their dependability and faithfulness in times of need.

Exuding a timeless quality, these crystalline Christians are seemingly ageless, while paradoxically aging gracefully. Their inner self remains eternally young. You catch a glimpse of their spirit in the glint of their bright, clear eyes. Their eyes are indeed the window of their soul, shining bright with the light of the One glistening within.

In dream language, flowers represent grace and favor while water is a type of the Holy Spirit. I believe the woman in this dream represents the church, a diversity of vases and faces. Christians who are crystal hold the grace and favor of the Lord Jesus Christ, carrying it within them through the power of the Holy Spirit. They are a sweet fragrance of the Lord wherever they are placed, unfolding the delicate beauty of the Lord for all to see and smell.

Let me be clear, gentle reader: I have not achieved this status, by any means.

But I do aspire to one day be crystalline.  crystal vase

And holy.  And pure in motive. My sincere prayer is that the Body of Christ will unite in holiness to walk worthy of the high calling to which we have been called and represent Him in our lives in the manner He is worthy of.

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  (Ephesians 4:1-6)
