Don’t Fling Away Your Fearless Confidence

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward”

– Hebrews 10:35 NKJV

I’m writing this post for my family and many friends in the state of Florida who are hunkered down behind shuttered windows waiting for hurricane Dorian to pass. Hopefully, their electricity is on so they can read this encouraging note from a friend who has been in their shoes many times.

I heard prophet Bobby Conner say this: “Confidence is the freedom of speaking clearly the divine plan of God. It is unreservedness in speech.”

Don’t we need confident speech in today’s politicized world climate? Let us be those people who openly declare frankly, God’s plan for our lives! Can I get a witness?

The dream stealer wants us to speak against God’s plans for our life. If we speak what the dream stealer says, we lose our vision. We know what comes next (see Proverbs 29:18). The AMPC version says it best:  Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.

athlete-ball-throw awayGetting back to the main topic … confidence. We have a choice to speak what God says to us or what the dream stealer communicates (through television, music, our thoughts, etc). Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward, (Hebrews 10:35 AMPC).

Do not let this happy trust in the Lord die away, no matter what happens (hurricanes, floods, water on your ceiling, etc). Remember your reward!  You need to keep on patiently doing God’s will if you want him to do for you all that he has promised (TLB).

Bill and I had a nasty, brown water stain appear on the ceiling drywall of our main floor guest bathroom two weeks ago. Then a similar one appeared simultaneously on the ceiling of our master bath. I could have flung away my confidence and allowed worry to consume me. Worry about the source: was it a burst pipe? Hole in the roof? How much will this repair cost? Will we get mold?

IMG_1049But Bill and I kept reminding ourselves that God knew about this when we bought the house last year and He would provide us a qualified workman at a reasonable cost. Let me tell you that he sent two workmen- a godly electrician and a godly all-around carpenter (soon-to-be contractor). The carpenter located the leak source and fixed it at a reasonable cost. It was a faulty A/C condenser line plus a nail hole in the roof. We are relieved and have made two wonderful acquaintances through this.

So my dear Florida loved ones … know that many stand in faith with you that Dorian shall remain out at sea, the winds along the coast and inland will not rip the roof off your dwelling place and my favorite … this too shall pass.

I pray you use this downtime wisely to study God’s Word, listen to teaching CD’s, pray, worship, write, create, catch up on your sleep or exercise. Don’t just veg out on television or movies.  God is faithful and you are safe in the palm of His hand. Don’t fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. Hang onto it and speak out your faith-filled words of hope and trust.

Note: I wrote this early Tuesday morning before I learned Dorian had been downgraded from a category 5 to a category 2 and that Florida was out of the cone of wind. So praise God for answered prayer and responding to the declaration of His saints that this storm will remain out at sea! So North Carolinians: SPEAK TO THE STORM!  Your faith-filled words can alter its course.

Ciao!
