God Listens

While discussing the God kisses we received this weekend at our first Women on the Frontlines conference in Orlando, my dear friend Jan asked, “How does He do that?” referring to the many surprises Holy Spirit had waiting for us, His beloveds.

Our surprises included prophetic words of encouragement – where God reads your mail, communicating that He sees you, knows you and cares intimately about your well-being. We received free CD’s and a free book, specifically tailored to our spiritual needs at this moment in our respective spiritual lives. While worshipping in the very first session, I opened my eyes to see prophetic artist Janice VanCronkhite painting an image of a

dark haired  beauty submerged in tourquoise water. The image captivated my heart and I heard Holy Spirit speak “This is how I see you in the spirit.”  The anointing on that painting released a new liberty within my soul. This is the intense, invisible power of prophetic art, music and writing to touch hearts and transform lives.

Another surprise gift that Abba bestowed was when Julie Meyer sang Blessed Assurance during the final session we attended. “That is the song my mother and I sing together. How does He do that?”  Jan asked me on the drive home.

The answer is: He listens. God listens to every conversation (Malachi 3:16).  As El Roi the God who sees me – He sees where we go and what we do. He knows when we stray and when we sit in His Presence. He is the God of the mountains – the all mighty One.

So whenever we ask, “How does God do that?” we are doubting that He sees us. We are expressing our unbelief that He is listening. Sure, we mentally ascent to Him being omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing) and omnipresent (everywhere at all times) but by asking that question, are we not expressing surprise that He is answering?

Wouldn’t it be better if we went to church or to conferences or into our prayer closets EXPECTING to hear Hs voice? I admit that I often hope to hear Him, instead of believing with certainty that He will speak.

Postscript: If you are a Julie Meyer fan, you know the gift she carries. If you are unfamiliar with her music, I urge you to buy a CD. It will usher you into a deeper realm of His Presence. I have memorized every word of Longing for the Day, one of my favorites. All of her songs carry a strong anointing of life to usher you quickly into His Presence. Trust me and thousands of others! You will love her, too.

  1. Good advice about expecting to hear from God…it doesn’t make sense for us to put limits on what God can do, does it? Also, I like the way you insert links into your posts, for example the link to the scripture verse…
