A true name is a name of a thing or being that expresses, or is somehow identical with, its true nature. The notion that language or some specific sacred language refers to things by their true names has been central to philosophical study as well as various traditions of magic, religious invocation and mysticism (mantras) since antiquity.
In folklore, knowing another’s true name allows you to connect to them magically but I don’t believe in the power of magic, nor am I referring to fantasy in popular culture where magic works by evoking true names and characters often go to great lengths to conceal their true names.
I am pondering the Bride of Christ. The entire Body, collectively as God’s Church. She will one day be known by her true name. We will one day be known by our true name.
Is it Hephzibah (my delight is in her)? Is it Kallah, (kaw-lal’) ( כָּלַל) Hebrew verb for bride, meaning to complete and perfected? Some teach it means: “enclosed one” bringing to mind a verse from Song of Songs, Song 4:12
“A garden enclosed is my sister, my spouse: a spring of living water shut up, a fountain sealed.”
Hot off the Press: I just learned the last words Jesus spoke on the cross … it is finished … were accompanied by one word. A dying man in excruiating pain reverts to His original language, Aramaic to utter … kallah. It is finished for who? For His Bride!
Jesus is ripping open heaven to come back for a Bride!
The Bridegroom is returning for a Bride who is without spot or wrinkle (2 Peter 3:13-14).
It was said by the Jewish sages and even today’s Rabbis teach this truth, that on the day of your wedding the Bride and Bridegroom stand before God without spot or blemish. I believe that, do you?
Isaiah 61:10: … for He (Yeshua) has clothed me with the garments of salvation. He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a Bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a Bride adorneth herself with her jewels.”
It is Yeshua who makes her that way, not herself. He gives us our robe and crowns.
Every time we celebrate Communion we are re-affirming our marriage covenant with our Bridegroom Jesus.
So as I leave you now pondering our future … consider Matthew 25 and the story of the 10 virgins. We are to be ready! Readiness speaks of many things. To me it speaks of being eager, longing for the coming of our beautiful King Jesus.It speaks of keeping our hunger alive, our fire burning and our zeal alive!
I am waiting for Him with zealous longing …
