Married to God but not a Nun!

The process of learning to emotionally rely on God day in and day out makes our marriages healthier because it relieves our spouse of expectations that only God should be filling for us.

Today’s 12-minute video God is your Husband is about how to develop a spousal relationship with God as our husband based on Isaiah 54.

The entire 54th chapter of Isaiah describes God’s intent to be a husband to Jerusalem, but not only them – to all of His children. The chapter ends with the promise: “This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. This is the blessing I have given you, says the Lord.”

Growing up Catholic, I thought that only nuns could be “married” to God and indeed they are. Their vows of celibacy include lifelong devotion to and service to God and others.

Jesus eyeI have since learned, however, that all Christians can be “married” to God if they so desire. It’s not weird. It simply means we desire a level of ongoing relationship with the Divine that relies on His leadership, provision, security, safety, and protection. It is based on the promises of Isaiah 54, Hosea 2:14, Hosea 2:19 and Isaiah 62:4-5.

“But I will court her again and bring her into the wilderness, and I will speak to her tenderly there,” (Hosea 2:14 TLB).

“I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion,” (Hosea 2:19 NIV).

You shall no longer be termed Forsaken,
Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate;
But you shall be called Hephzibah, (literally married & my delight is in her) and your land Beulah; For the Lord delights in you,
And your land shall be married.
For as a young man marries a virgin,
So shall your sons marry you;
And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
So shall your God rejoice over you,” (Isaiah 62:4-5 NKJV).

Enjoy this 12-minute teaching I have prepared for you (God is your Husband) and please feel free to share it with someone. Thanks so much!

My prayer for you is that the revelation of the intense love Jesus has for you will shine in your heart and mind, regardless of your marital status. Love you my brothers and sisters in Christ!

  2. Thanks for this Kate! I watched your video. It really spoke to me. I want to know my Father as husband, my heart deeply desires this! I’ve had a dream recently that spoke exactly of Isaiah 54! It was when I couldn’t sleep well for weeks on end, he gave me a dream where it talked about restoring the wife who felt abandoned. But once she was married she had joy!

  3. HE IS MINE!! Jesus died for ALL! But this business of having to share Him with this myriad of drooling people, mainly women is more than I can STAND! Marriage is a PRIVATE, INDIVIDUAL, EXCLUSIVE AFFAIR!! I will never get used to this Sharing business!! Like I said: I Do Not Deserve Him, but,”HE IS MINE!!”😣. JKM.
